March 29th and 30th found Rio Vista Slow Food board members Janith Norman, Tom Surh, Susan Whitesell and Beverly Bellows at the Slow Food California Leader Meeting in Sacramento.
There the group learned about several exciting regional, state, national, and international Slow Food initiatives, exchanged ideas with other Slow Food chapters, dined at Sacramento “Snail of Approval” restaurants, and viewed The Story of Slow Food, a documentary about the history of the Slow Food movement.
April 10th found several Slow Food Rio Vista volunteers planning the June 21st Slow Food Festival, and of course, noshing on wonderful appetizers prepared by local members. Slow Food Festival planning is in full swing! The venue is secured, promotional events are underway, festival tickets are printed, cooks are being identified and wine and food offerings are being discussed.
Tickets for the event are available online at www.brownpapertickets.com/event/620291 or they can be purchased at Books Rio V and This N That. Events such as the Slow Food Festival are made possible with the involvement of individuals like you. Contact Tom Surh at 374-5282 to volunteer or Janith Norman at 374-6118 for information to be a vendor or sponsor.
